Overview and league

The MPFC U15 REDS have recently transferred to MPFC from another well respected local club. The majority of the team has been together since U6/7s, and currently play at a good standard in the Surrey Youth League – Conference Division.

Objectives for this season

We will continue to develop our individuals and team unit (s) in the broadest sense. Our ambition is to be promoted from the current league.

Technical ability, game understanding and physical development is continually reviewed with each training session planned and linked to match days. Equally we ensure the players build rounded social lives and build a close set of team mates, and ‘friends’, on and off the pitch.

We will continue to develop all players to feel calm on the ball and supported enough by coaches to be creative. We aim to be a possession based team where a good first touch and smart decision making is celebrated. We work towards players showing high energy levels, and a desire to play an expansive game, quickly transitioning play through the thirds, from defence to attack.

Last years successes

The team and players developed significantly last year as the coach introduced continued learning and development gained from his own personal development from the FA.

Recruiting for players

We are looking to strengthen our squad by 2 or 3 new players. We expect our boys to play in more than one position (if necessary) as part of their development – but in particular we need a goal scorer, a central midfielder, and a central defender.

Training

Training is currently held on Monday 7.30 – 8.30pm and Friday 7pm – 8pm at Matthew Arnold School, Staines on the 3G and 4G pitches. Other sessions may be held during the summer on grass pitches. [This is currently under review and may revert to 1 session a week – happy to discuss].
